FIRENZE and its history
The story of Florence starts with the Etruscans. The Etruscan, coming from the lower parts of Asia (that looks like the biggest hypotesis), they settled in the area where the modern day Florence stands now. The first witnesses of the Etruscan civilization are dated to the IX century B.C. (tomb paintings, urns, tombs, slates and statues). Remarkable Etruscan art collections are kept in Florence in the Archeological Museum (like the famous Chimera's Bronze Statue). Only in 395 a.d. the Etruscan civilization was completely submitted to the Roman influence, losing the original parts of the starting culture.
