Siena and its history

The origin of Siena are lost in the Etruscan era, only a legend describes the founding at the hands of Senio, one of the two sons of Remo (the brother of Romolo, founder of Rome). The legend goes that the two brothers left Rome to escape Romolo that wanted them dead; during the escape the two brothers stole a marble wolf and they took it as trophy in the place where they were hiding and where they will found the new city. The wolf is still the city symbol.
